According to an Indian HC statement today, the Festivalhad opened with the screening of 'Kahaani'. Over 250 entrieswere received and out of which about 125 films were screenedin Suva and other cities, it said.
The Indian feature and documentary films were also a partof festival where 'Kahaani' received the award in 'Best Film'category.
Director Rajkumar Hirani received 'Best Director' awardfor his film 'Three Idiots'. A special Jury Best Film awardwas given to 'Kumavatara', Directed by Girish Kasarawalli andbest Documentary Film was given to Urban Ox by AK Bir.
In the Short Film category, the award was given toNirvana & Beyond, directed by Juhi Sinha. Other featurefilms included 'Sarkar', 'Der Brand', 'My Wedding and othersecrets', 'Leaving Baghdad', 'Busong', 'Kashmir Ki Kali','Sholay', 'Blush', 'Hum', 'Little Big Soldier', 'Koko theGhost' and 'Zameer'.
The Fiji Film Festival featured a range of diverseinternational and local film entries including French,Russian, Middle Eastern films, Bollywood blockbusters andBengali classics as well.
These films were screened from all over the country fromOctober 5 to 18.
