Comedian-actor Rajiv Thakur, known for his appearances on Netflix's The Great Indian Kapil Show, is mourning the loss of his father. Comedian Krushna Abhishek confirmed the news of Rajiv's father's death while announcing that an upcoming show featuring the two comedians in Indore has been postponed.
Krushna, who had travelled to Indore for the performance, shared the news in a video posted by the event management company. Standing alongside the organiser, he informed the audience about the unfortunate development.
“I have just landed in Indore. And there is sad news that I want to share with you all. When we were taking off for Indore, Rajiv Thakur, who was supposed to be performing with me tomorrow in Indore, his father expired. So, this is very sad news for the whole fraternity,” Krushna Abhishek said.
The comedian also addressed those who had already purchased tickets for the show and confirmed that the event would be rescheduled.
“So, my request is that the people who have taken the tickets, I request them that we are rescheduling this show and we will do it on some other date,” he added.
The caption read, “A Heartfelt Apology. With a heavy heart, we're truly sorry for the inconvenience caused to everyone who booked tickets for the event. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have decided to postpone the event. We will be refunding the full ticket amount to everyone who has booked their seats.”
“We promise to come back soon with new dates and reschedule this event. Thank you for your love, support, patience and understanding. It truly means the world to us. We are sorry. We are grateful. And we'll be back soon,” it added.
Rajiv Thakur began his career in Punjabi theatre before moving into mainstream television. He gained wider recognition with The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 3 and later became a familiar face on Comedy Circus. He has also appeared in films including Thug Life (2017), Tara Mira (2019), Zindagi Zindabaad (2023) and Kanjoos Majnu Kharchili Laila (2023).
