Rewari, Haryana:
A 5-year-old girl was raped in a field on the Delhi road in Haryana, police said on Tuesday.
The victim, who is the daughter of a migrant labourer from Uttar Pradesh, was lured by an unidentified man and raped late on Sunday night, they said.
A complaint was filed today by the child's father after which the her medical examination confirmed rape.
A case of rape has been registered against the unknown man and efforts are being made identify and nab him, the police said.
According to them, the victim's family was initially reluctant to report the matter to the police fearing social stigma and did not take the severely injured child for treatment to a hospital or clinic.
