India's electric vehicle market is witnessing strong growth, driven by rising consumer demand and expanding product options. Models like the MG Windsor EV and Tata Tiago EV have already achieved impressive sales figures, highlighting the vast potential of EV adoption in the country. With this momentum, several new electric cars are expected to arrive in 2026, further strengthening the segment and underscoring India's shift toward cleaner, more sustainable mobility solutions.

Tata Sierra EV

The Tata Sierra has been launched in India at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the legendary nameplate is going to get an electric version soon. Tata's Sierra is set to debut in an all-electric avatar, built on the Acti.EV+ platform, with a launch expected in the first half of 2026. Buyers will get a choice of two battery packs - 55kWh and 65kWh - while dual-motor all-wheel drive will be offered right from the start. The EV will feature distinct styling updates compared to the ICE Sierra, particularly at the front, and its cabin will adopt a modern, tech-rich design.

The model will share its platform and battery packs with Maruti's EV, with range figures expected to remain unchanged. First previewed as a concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in early 2025, the Urban Cruiser EV marks Toyota's next step in expanding its electric portfolio for India.
