Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle recently launched the Sierra SUV in the Indian market. Reviving the iconic name, the SUV was introduced at a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and is getting significant attention on public forums. To make it even more of an attention-grabbing machine, the Indian automaker has been performing various tests with the vehicle. Based on the latest announcement, the SUV has achieved a record fuel efficiency of 29.9 kmpl at NATRAX Indore.

The test was performed during a 12-hour run, giving it a place in the India Book of Records. The unit used during the test had the automaker's new 1.5-litre Hyperion petrol engine. This unit is paired to an AT and is tuned to produce 160 hp of power and 255 Nm of torque at the peak of its performance. Previously, the brand has used the same engine to register a top speed of 222 kmph for the Sierra under controlled conditions.

There is also a diesel variant of the Sierra with a 118 hp 1.5-litre engine, offering both 6-speed manual (260Nm) and 6-speed automatic (280Nm) options.

Inside, the Tata Sierra gets a luxurious cabin featuring three dashboard displays, one for the driver and two for infotainment, allowing for smooth content sharing. It retains the four-spoke steering wheel from the Tata Curvv, which is equipped with an illuminated Tata logo and touch-sensitive controls, along with a 12-speaker JBL audio system, the segment's inaugural SonicShaft soundbar, dual-zone climate control, the largest panoramic sunroof available in India, a wireless charging pad, rear window sunshades, ventilated and electric front seats, among other amenities.
