Tata Harrier.ev was recently launched in the Indian market and has now come out with flying colours in crash tests conducted by Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). The electric SUV has scored a five-star rating. This stands the same for both adult and child occupant protection, with 32 points out of 32 for AOP and 45 points out of 49 for COP. It is worth mentioning that the safety rating organisation tested the larger battery pack version of the SUV, i.e., Empowered 75 and Empowered 75 AWD.

Diving into details, the Tata Harrier.ev scored 16 out of 16 points in the front offset deformable barrier test. The safety organization also concluded that the electric SUV offers 'good' protection for both the front passengers as well as for the driver's chest and left tibia. Meanwhile, the side movable deformable barrier test also resulted in a perfect score of 16 points out of 16 points, offering 'good' protection for the head, stomach, and the pelvic region. While in the side impact pole test, the SUV had an 'ok' rating.

During the vehicle assessment, the Harrier EV earned 9 points out of a possible 13. BNCAP evaluated the Harrier EV using dummies representing 18-month-old and 3-year-old children.

The five-star rating of the Tata Harrier.ev can be credited to its extensive list of safety features, which includes Level 2 ADAS features, seven airbags, digital video recorder, TPMS, hill hold assist, hill descent control, rain sensing wipers, electronic parking brake, disc brake for all wheels with disc wiping, AVAS (acoustic vehicle alert system), and auto headlamps.
