Republic Day 2026: PM Modi Arrives In Range Rover Sentinel; Here's All About It

On Republic Day 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his ceremonial arrival at Kartavya Path near India Gate, surrounded by a meticulously planned high-security environment. Among the highlights of the day was his official vehicle, the Range Rover Sentinel SUV, a machine that stands out not only for its imposing presence but also for its advanced engineering and uncompromising safety features. The Sentinel forms a crucial part of the Prime Minister's secure motorcade, deployed during major national events and state functions to ensure maximum protection.

At the heart of the Sentinel lies a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine that produces 380 hp. Despite its substantial kerb weight of over 4.4 tonnes, the SUV demonstrates remarkable performance, accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in approximately 10.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 193 kmph. This blend of power and agility ensures that the vehicle is not only secure but also capable of swift movement in critical situations.

The Sentinel is essentially a heavily armoured version of the standard Range Rover, designed to meet the highest levels of protection. It comes with VR8-level ballistic certification, enabling it to withstand 7.62 mm armour-piercing rounds. In terms of blast resistance, the SUV is engineered to survive lateral explosions equivalent to 15 kg of TNT, as well as grenade attacks from above and below the chassis. To further safeguard its occupants, the vehicle is equipped with a fire suppression system, an independent oxygen supply to counter smoke or gas infiltration, and a public address system for communication during emergencies.

Inside, the Sentinel balances its defensive capabilities with luxury and technology. The cabin is fitted with Land Rover's Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, which features dual 10-inch high-resolution touchscreens. This setup allows seamless control over navigation, entertainment, and climate functions, ensuring convenience even in high-pressure scenarios. The interior design emphasizes comfort and sophistication, making it suitable for long journeys and official engagements alike.
