Maruti Suzuki Sells 1.8 Lakh Units In May'25, Witnessing Marginal Dip In Sales

India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, reported total sales of 1,80,077 units in May 2025, including domestic, export, and OEM sales. While the numbers are slightly lower compared to 1,85,514 units in May 2024, some key segments showed steady performance.

Passenger Cars See Dip, But Vans and SUVs Shine

Passenger car sales in May 2025 stood at 68,736 units, down from 78,838 units in the same month last year. This drop is primarily due to a sharp fall in the Mini segment (Alto, S-Presso), which slipped to 6,776 units, compared to 9,902 units last year. Compact cars (Baleno, Swift, Dzire, etc.) also declined slightly to 61,502 units, down from 68,206.

However, the Eeco van recorded a healthy 12,327 units, up from 10,960 in May 2024. The Utility Vehicle (UV) segment -which includes the Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Fronx - held steady at 54,899 units, a small gain over last year's 54,204.

Commercial Vehicles and Exports Hold Strong

The Super Carry LCV maintained momentum with 2,728 units, while sales to other OEMs came in at 10,168 units.

Maruti's export business showed a strong rise, growing to 31,219 units in May 2025, compared to 26,367 last year - a growth of nearly 18%.

April-May FY 2025-26 Cumulative Numbers

In the first two months of FY 2025-26, Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 3,59,868 vehicles, compared to 3,42,640 during the same period last year. While passenger car sales are down year-on-year, exports and van sales are helping balance the scales.
