India-Bound Toyota Land Cruiser FJ Launched In Japan: Everything You Need To Know

Toyota has officially launched the Land Cruiser FJ in Japan at JPY 4,500,100 (around Rs 27.24 lakh), bringing a new body-on-frame SUV into the global line-up ahead of its expected India debut. The India-bound Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is expected to become one of the most significant launches from Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) in several years.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ: Dimensions

The Land Cruiser FJ measures 4,610 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,890 mm in height, positioning it in a similar size bracket as the Mahindra Scorpio-N. However, it remains more compact on the inside, with a comparatively shorter wheelbase of 2,580 mm. It gets a boxy design with smooth edges, overall contributing to a rugged look.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ: Engine

The current Japanese-spec FJ runs on the 2TR-FE 2.7-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, tuned to deliver 164 hp and 245 Nm of torque. Power is channelled via a 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system. Enthusiast rumours suggest Toyota may later introduce an upgraded version of the 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine by 2029, but this has not yet been confirmed by the company.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ: Design

Exterior highlights include LED headlamps, LED front and rear fog lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 265/60 R18 tyres, part-LED tail lamps, and a side-hinged tailgate with a centrally mounted spare wheel. Toyota does not offer a sunroof, although this omission is unlikely to concern the model's core off-road-oriented buyers.

Inside, the Land Cruiser FJ gets a semi-digital instrument cluster with a 7-inch driver information display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a dual-zone automatic climate control setup. Safety equipment spans seven airbags, a Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, a Pre-Collision System, and a 360-degree camera.
