Bangalore: Ather Energy unveiled its EL (enlightened) platform at its annual event on Saturday, Ather Community Day 2025, which will spawn a range of electric scooters. Key highlights of the platform include modularity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of service and maintenance.
Ather Energy showcased EL01 - the first prototype built of the EL platform. Primarily a family scooter, the EL01 has all-LED lights, massive boot space for twin helmets under the seat, a large floor board, 14-inch wheels, and a patented AC-DC module, which results in an on-board charging wire tucked inside the storage.

Ather Energy said the EL platform is different from the existing platform used in Rizta and the 450 Series. The EL platform is a unibody steel frame that has multi-faceted advantages. Firstly, it will allow Ather to place battery packs of various sizes, ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh, under the floorboard. The unibody chassis has fewer components, allowing the brand to keep the cost in check. Thirdly, the platform is modular, which effectively means the brand can quickly breed models out of it. Ather Energy showed teaser images of a maxi-scooter and a sporty scooter based on the same platform.
The products born out of the EL platform are likely to be the entry-level models, sitting below the Rizta series. Ather Energy plans to roll out the first product, based on the EL platform, by the festive season next year. The e-scooters based on the EL platform will be built in Ather's new facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.

Ather Energy Electric Scooter Concepts Based on EL Platform
Ather Energy is confident of driving down the cost of maintenance with the EL-based scooters. New brakes have been developed for these scooters, which will reduce the wear and tear of the pads. At the service front, Ather Energy is confident of decreasing the service time at the stations to half, and the charges will lessen significantly as well.
