Former Home Minister Shivraj Patil has challenged Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to a wrestling duel.

Patil was reacting to recent comments by Thackeray, which even the Election Commission had objected to.

"I don't know what he said, but I don't see the need to react to Raj," Patil said, adding, "If he has the guts to come out in the open, I challenge him to a wrestling duel."

Earlier, a complaint was lodged against Thackeray for violating Model Code of Conduct during a campaign speech in Pune. According to the complaint, Thackeray used 'unparliamentary' language while referring to Patil during a rally on October 8.

Thackeray had reportedly said that he would beat Patil with shoes for neglecting his constituency.

"He has shown his level. If such people show their level, why should I stoop down," Patil said later.
