Sued By Jayalalithaa, DMK Chief To Attend Court On Monday

On Monday, expect a massive media scrum at a court in Chennai where politician M Karunanidhi has said he will appear personally.

Mr Karunanidhi, 92, heads the DMK, and has been sued for defamation by long-time rival, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

Ms Jayalalithaa, 67, sued Mr Karunanidhi late last year after his party's magazine ran an article, which she alleges defames her. 

In a statement released today, Mr Karunanidhi said that the case is an attempt " to threaten publications that don't support the ruling AIADMK."
