J Sam Daniel Stalin is an award-winning senior television journalist, news anchor and the face of NDTV in Tamil Nadu, known for credible, balanced and impactful journalism. With over 26 years of experience in television news, he heads NDTV’s Chennai Bureau and is widely regarded as one of the most trusted voices on Tamil Nadu politics, governance and society - a journalist who knows the state, its people and its political pulse like the back of his hand.
Over a distinguished career spanning six Assembly elections and five General Elections, he has reported extensively on Tamil Nadu’s shifting political landscape, power centres and grassroots realities. He has interviewed Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, party leaders, lawmakers, global leaders, sports champions, Nobel laureates and influential newsmakers.
Among the first journalists to report from ground zero after the 2004 tsunami in Nagapattinam, many of his reports have driven government intervention, systemic change and relief for affected communities.
A British Chevening Scholar, International Visitor Leadership Programme alumnus and recipient of multiple international fellowships, Sam Daniel has reported from the United States and Europe, addressed a TEDx event and mentored over fifty young journalists.
