Over 100 Detained In Chennai Protest Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar

More than 100 protesters were detained near Chennai's Elliot's Beach on Saturday during a demonstration against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police said the protesters had not obtained prior permission for the gathering. The detentions triggered a political backlash, with DMK chief M.K. Stalin accusing the Vijay-led Tamil Nadu government of acting as an extension of the BJP. Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin also targeted Vijay, calling him a "dummy CM" and alleging that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was an undeclared "slave to Delhi".
