Andhra Pradesh BJP leaders meet party's central leadership

New Delhi: BJP leaders from Seemandhra region today met the party's central leadership at LK Advani's residence and sought their intervention in impressing on the Centre to address genuine concerns, fears and apprehensions of the people of the region after announcing bifurcation of the state.

The BJP leaders from Andhra Pradesh apprised the party's central leadership about the present situation in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in Seemandhra.

The delegation told the party leadership that they are committed to the party's decision for the bifurcation of the state.

Among those present at Mr Advani's residence during the meeting were BJP President Rajnath Singh, former BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal and Joint General Secretary (Org) V Satish.

Among the issues raised by the delegation included concerns over river water-sharing, revenue-sharing, problems of government employees, educational and employment opportunities in Hyderabad, safety and security for the people settled in Hyderabad.

The delegation also wanted special care to be taken for the development of backward region.

They asked the central leaders to pursue with the central government and address all these concerns and see that a proper mechanism is evolved for this.

"BJP is committed to bifurcation of the state and assures all the people, including those of Seemandhra, that their concerns will be addressed and no injustice will be done to any region," said a party release.

BJP also appealed to all people of different regions of Andhra Pradesh to remain calm and cooperate in finding an amicable solution to all the concerns expressed by different sections and regions and not to fall prey to provocative statements made by vested interests.

"The central government has mishandled the issue of Telangana from the beginning. Even now, Congressmen are speaking in two tones in different regions. They want credit for their decision on Telangana in that region and are blaming BJP for taking that decision in Seemandhra region.

"This is not expected from a national party that too a ruling party. Congress is treating the whole issue as its internal party affair without taking all stakeholders into confidence," BJP said.
