Three Women, Three Problems. Twitter Hero Sushma Swaraj To The Rescue

Sushma Swaraj is being praised for patiently responding to SOS tweets by three women

New Delhi: There is no doubt that every time an Indian is in distress, the first person they turn to is Sushma Swaraj. The foreign affairs minister is Twitter's unofficial 'agony aunt'. Be it Indians stranded in conflict zones or something as trivial as refrigerators, she's patiently addressed all queries and extended her help when she can. On Thursday, three women turned to the minister for three very different problems. In her patient style, she responded to all three.

One of the women claimed she had been cheated by her husband and sought the minister's help. The woman tweeted that her husband, a US citizen, left her after marrying her and she has no details about him. Ms Swaraj promised to put her in touch with the Indian embassy in the US.

Soon, other requests followed. A woman asked for financial help to travel to Mexico to represent India at a competition. The minister acknowledged the tweet but didn't mention financial help.

A third woman tweeted to the minister for visa-related help and threatened suicide if her request was not heard. The woman, reportedly married to a man in New Zealand, had been denied a visa thrice. Ms Swaraj gave the woman her email id and asked her to send her a copy of her visa application.

Last year, a man tweeted to Sushma Swaraj seeking her help regarding a defective refrigerator. The minister hilariously responded that her area of expertise doesn't extend to electronic items.
