Days ago, a 'feminist remix' of A R Rahman's iconic song Urvashi Urvashi from the film Hum Se Hai Muqabala was posted online. The song, shared on Facebook by Breakthrough India, a non-profit organisation, slams patriarchy and urges women to 'break the glass ceiling'. Shared on February 23, the video swiftly began going viral and has collected over 1.7 lakh views on Facebook so far. However, artistes featured in the song, have also ended up becoming recipients to some unwanted abuse online, forcing the NGO to release a statement on the hate messages.

According to the NGO, the purpose of the video was to help promote gender equality and celebrate women's freedom. However, online trolls that probably didn't understand this message behind the video, viciously body shamed one of the artistes in the video.

"I don't know whether she can break the glass ceiling but she will definitely break the ceiling if she dances anymore on the terrace," reads one of the many such hateful comments on YouTube.

As a result, Breakthrough India released this statement some 45 minutes before writing this.

Not all comments on the video are negative, though. Few have also praised the song and the idea behind it.

"This is so great! Congratulations to everyone who worked on it!" says one commenter on YouTube. "Great work! Ignore the haters," says another on Facebook.
