Muzaffarnagar: Girl's Family Members Held for Allegedly Killing her Boyfriend

Muzaffarnagar:  In a suspected case of dishonour killing, a 26-year-old youth was allegedly shot dead by family members of his girlfriend here, police said today.

The accused have been arrested, they said.

Arif was gunned down by three members of the girl's family, including her two brothers, at Khalapar locality yesterday as they did not approve of their relationship, police said.

The three accused--Pervaiz, Firoz and Shahvez-- have been arrested.

Pervaiz and Firoz are brothers of the girl.

The girl's family had reportedly spotted Arif with her, after which they lodged an FIR against him for eve-teasing the girl. But during investigation, Arif's body with bullet injuries was found, police said.

Meanwhile, in another case, a teenage couple allegedly attempted to commit suicide separately after their families did not allow them to get married as they are minors, police said.

The two--16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl-attempted suicide at Sambhalhera village in the district yesterday.

Police said the girl tried to hang herself at her house, but was rushed to hospital. The boy tried to kill himself by consuming poison.
