History-sheeter shoots travel agency owner in central Mumbai

Mumbai: A travel agency owner was on Wednesday shot at by a history-sheeter outside his residence at Sion in central Mumbai, police said.

The victim Narendra Keni (52), who is also the chief promoter of Sion Koliwada Housing society, was standing outside his house when the accused Ganesh Shinde fired one round at him after speaking for a while on Wednesday morning, they said.

"Shinde was accompanied by an unidentified person," a police official said adding the victim was recuperating at Sion hospital and was out of danger.

The motive behind the attack was not yet clear, police said, adding that Shinde has at least 15 cases, including robbery and extortion cases, lodged against him across the city.

Hunt for the two accused is on, they said.
