Whether it's racoon eyes or crayon brows, we've all had our fair share of makeup mistakes. Along with being embarrassing, they can also make you look older than you are - No, really! Some makeup mistakes age you and you may not even know you're committing these blunders so find out what they are right now.
1. Patchy Blush
Blush is intended to look like a flush of colour that's coming from within. Patchy circles of blush may have been a rage in the Renaissance era but today, they just make you look years older than your actual age. Make sure not to use too much and to always blend well.
2. Overly Dark Eyes
Yes, smokey eyes are always in fashion but that still doesn't mean you go overboard with the eyeliner. Extremely dark eyes which are overly lined only draw attention to the lids and further, to the fine lines around it.
3. Bronze Blunder
After contouring hit the scene, bronzer has found its way as a must-have in every woman's beauty kit. However, there's a fine line between bronzed and sunburned so make sure you don't cross it. Excessively bronzed skin just makes you look too tan while emphasizing your skin's texture. And make sure you're using the right shade for your skin tone!
4. Too Long Hair
You may love your flowing tresses, ladies but maybe they're best saved for Rapunzel. Very long hair pulls the face's appearance down and ages it drastically. Plus, it's high on maintenance and ends up with constant split ends and damage. If you don't have the time to maintain and style, it's best to let go of a few inches.
5. Skipping The Base
Skipping the essential base makeup steps before you actually apply foundation is detrimental to your entire look - don't say we didn't warn you! Skipping moisturiser, primer and corrector leaves the skin bumpy and facial lines visible which, foundation and concealer end up settling into later. Now, that's a no-no!
6. Wrong Lip Liner
Remember to always use the same shade of lip liner as your lipstick. Too dark or too light lip liner ends up looking jarring on the lips and brings focus to the lip area, especially to the fine creases around the mouth.
7. Cakey Finish
When it comes to base makeup, keep in mind that blending is key, especially with the different layers of makeup. When each coat isn't blended well, it will end up looking like a cakey layer which emphasizes the skin's lines and texture. Avoid it by blending your makeup well.
