Kerala's 'Authentic Ayurveda' attracting Germans

Thiruvananthapuram: Ayurveda medicine of Kerala is attracting Germans to beat the stress and pressuresof routine urban life and stay healthy.

Increasing numbers of Germans over the age of 50 are preferring the ancient Indian system to lead a relaxed life, astatement issued by Kerala tourism said.

"Our data shows that the highest number of those coming for Ayurveda treatment to Kerala from abroad is from Germany,"Kerala Tourism Director Rani George said.

An "Ayurveda: Wellness or Medicine" workshop was recently organised by Kerala Tourism in Munich, Germany, to give afillip to the tradition during which leading personalities in the field of health spoke on it.

"The promotional campaign on Ayurveda is a boost to Kerala's tourism sector in Germany," George said.State Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar said that Ayurveda was presented "to the German audience as there is anincreasing demand for health and wellness among the people in Germany."

The workshop also witnessed demonstrations on various subjects like Ayurveda massage, Ayurveda cooking and Ayurvedaoils.

Kerala Tourism will also participate in two international wellness fairs in Germany next month and is planning to tie upwith online shops as part of a marketing campaign to reach customers, the statement said.
