Tamil Nadu Government Formation Highlights: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Tuesday met AIADMK rebels as EPS rival CV Shanmugam said his faction is "ready to back TVK".

30 AIADMK MLAs are believed to be in the rebel camp that has questioned party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami's leadership following the party's performance in the April 23 assembly polls, in which it won only 47 of the 164 seats it contested.

The new Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also met Congress and VCK leaders.

Pandit, known for his dual role as an astrologer and a spokesperson for the TVK, has been a close aide to the leadership during the recent electoral campaign.

"Sanatana Dharma Should Be...": Udhayanidhi Stalin At It Again, BJP Hits Back

It is deja vu time in Tamil Nadu. Three years ago DMK leader and ex-deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin kicked up a row when he said: "... 'sanatana dharma' ought to be eradicated like malaria, dengue and mosquito and not opposed..."

The comment led to ferocious pushback from the BJP; in fact, such was the heat Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded and the Supreme Court was petitioned, though it later refused pleas seeking criminal charges against the younger Stalin.

On Tuesday afternoon Stalin junior - the son of party boss MK Stalin - kicked up that row again, by doubling down on 'sanatana dharma' and declaring in the Assembly "it must be eradicated."

The comment was made with the new chief minister - C Joseph Vijay - in the Assembly and in a speech in which Udhayanidhi Stalin was congratulating JCD Prabhakar on being elected as the new Speaker of the Assembly.

Periakaruppan moved the Madras High Court, alleging a "peculiar constitutional anomaly" involving a postal ballot. He claimed a vote intended for his constituency (No. 185) was accidentally sent to another Tiruppattur (No. 50 in Vellore) and rejected there, rather than being redirected.
