Narendra Modi addresses rally in Himachal Pradesh: Highlights

BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today attacked the UPA government at the Centre over inflation and said the Congress had promised to bring down inflation in 100 days, but couldn't. In his speech in Himachal Pradesh, Mr Modi said for the last 60 years, the Congress has done nothing towards development, but the BJP will change everything within 60 months.

Following are the highlights of his speech:

• Here in BJP there is no membership, we believe in a relationship
• For the last 60 years, they have captured the seat of power
• Rajneeti (politics) has become a business for them, politics has become a profession
• For us politics is a way to serve the nation
• Himachal Pradesh has given me a lot of affection and respect. I can never forget all this love
• For me this place holds special relevance
• If I will get an opportunity then I will do something for the people here
• Tell me do you trust the Congress government, the Centre and Congress leaders?
• If you don't trust them, why do you continue to suffer them?
• This is one such government where no one has any trust in them
• No government can run without the trust of people
• Such a government that doesn't have the trust of people cannot stay in power
• Parents worry about whether their daughters will return home safely or not
• People are going door to door for employment
• Despite the will to work, the youth can't feed their old parents
• The yuva (youth) is in the army..they have guns but do not have faith in the political system
• I have seen the energy of these soldiers in Kargil, I have seen their suffering
• We are a land of brave young men, but still our neighbours get away suppressing us
• Is this acceptable that any force suppresses us?
• These forces get away by slapping us
• We should be a nation that is able to stare back at those who try to exert force on us
• Congress had promised to bring down inflation in 100 days...did they?
• Congress leaders are going from one state to another rallying, talking of Buddha and Asoka but they don't have the courage to say two words; to ask for forgiveness from the people of this country for not being able to deliver on bringing down prices
• Overnight they are remembering great kings, but they have nothing to say on price rise
• Congress party's arrogance stops them from asking forgiveness
• They have taken for granted that the people have no other choice but to vote for Congress
• They forget the democracy and that the voter is God
• Congress is not ready to answer these questions
• I ask the apple farmers: What policies are in force now that farmers don't get a fair price for their fruits?
• Why must apples be imported from foreign countries?
• We need to revamp, re-strategise our policies
• Cannot copy policies that have worked in other countries
• Thought process needs a complete revamp for new policies
• Need to take into account the diversity of our country to solve its problems
• What works in one state doesn't work in another
• PM will not find solutions in national Development Council meets
• BJP government will consult the states that fall within the Himalayan ranges for the development once we come into power
• You all will witness the parivartan (change)
• For the last 60 years, the Congress has done nothing towards development
• BJP will change everything within 60 months
• For the last 6 years we have derailed from the track of development
• The states which are still under-developed with these we cannot work towards the progress of other states
• We have to uplift those who've been left far behind in terms of development
• India can't progress unless those who've been left behind are pushed forward
• BJP aspires to strengthen every state. We will take every state along with us
• Such a small state but the time is spent in bus tragedies...should Himachal not get a good rail network
• Hindustan Railways is an amanat (prized possession) for India but the government has done nothing other than bringing in one train here and putting in few coaches there
• Rail connectivity in hill areas has been important even from tourism point but sadly the government has never thought on those lines
• Do you want to be relieved of corruption?
• If you want then we need to remove this corrupt government in order to eliminate corruption
• PM says money doesn't grow on trees, I would like to say that this leader was talking about corrupt ministers in BJP
• Yesterday he said there are so many BJP ministers in jail
• All the tainted ministers are in your government and you are blaming us
• If there is corruption genesis in this country then its only and only Congress
• If you are not corrupt then please tell me what difficulty do you have in bringing back the black money that is abroad
• Tell me does anyone here have any problem with bringing back black money?
• Why will all of you have a problem?
  
• It is not your money right? But these people will have a problems because it is theirs
• These corrupt people have kept the money of the people of India in foreign banks
• Till when will the Congress keep saving itself? The root cause of corruption in this nation is the Congress party
• If Congressmen are not corrupt then what is their worry in getting black money back?
• If they bring back black money, a percentage of it can be given away as a reward to the taxpayer with regular salaries
• Why would I indulge in corruption? What would I do with this money? I have no one with me
• Just by repeatedly telecasting 'Incredible India' doesn't mean the tourists will come visit our country
• Himachal youth is living in the streets of Delhi in search of employment
  
• Tourism can be achieved easily. Just open a tea stall and serve these tourists who are waiting in long queues in their vehicles
  
• These days when I talk about tea vendors few people get upset
  
• In Kerala a minister was thrown out of the party for praising me, another leader was asked for accountability for meeting me
  
• Amitabh Bachchan was also taunted with my name
• This politics of hatred and untouchability is not good for a democracy
  
• Congress is a dynastic party which is the opposite of being a democratic party
  
• The youth out here in Himachal will show his their strength if given an employment opportunity, he will feed his parents
  
• Modi brought in state of unity and now Sonia says 'next elections for unity
  
• She also said Zeher ki kheti karthe hain (we sow the seeds of poison)
  
• Who is doing this? Who started this? Who created rifts between brotherhood, states? Who differentiated between the rich and the poor?
• You have started this for vote bank politics and and then you are blaming us
• It is congress that spreads seeds of poison
• Andhra Pradesh is the perfect example to prove that you'll do zeher ki kheti
• No strife when BJP divided states
• You all are good in doing zeher ki kheti that is why there is distrust across the country
  
• BJP does politics of love, not hatred
• 2014 elections should be to provide food and shelter for people and health amenities for the old
• Today I am not bringing in promises, I am bringing in our intentions
