Multiple Drone Sightings Reported Near LoC In J&K, 2nd Time In 48 hours
The recent surge in drone activity has led to reinforced security measures.

In a concerning development, multiple drone sightings have been reported along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Doonga Gali area of the Keri sector, prompting security forces to mobilise immediately.

The Army responded swiftly to the hovering drones, firing shots to attempt a downing, and initiating a thorough search operation to check for any potential consignment drops.

This marks the second such incident in Rajouri sector within 48 hours, triggering a heightened state of vigilance along the LoC and International Border (IB). The recent surge in drone activity has led to reinforced security measures, with troops maintaining an elevated alertness level.

Since Operation Sindoor in May last year, this is the first time multiple drones have been spotted along the LoC and IB in a span of a few days.

On Sunday, several drones were spotted in Rajouri, with one seen hovering for a few minutes over the Chak Babral village in Ramgarh sector of Samba.

Earlier, similar drone movements were detected in the Nowshera, Poonch, and Samba sectors, indicating a coordinated attempt to smuggle arms and ammunition. The recovery of a cache containing pistols, magazines, and explosives in Samba sector last week underscores Pakistan's attempts to drop weapons and drugs in India and support terror groups backed by Islamabad.

Earlier on Tuesday, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi had warned Pakistan that it would get a fitting response for any misadventure. He also recalled the successes during Operation Sindoor, launched to target terror hubs in Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack, and said the operation was still on.

"This time, the action we took, especially the kind of firing that took place in Jammu and Kashmir, and the way we addressed it, and how we eliminated approximately 100 of their people - all that action was taken because we expanded the conventional space. In those 88 hours, you saw that the army's mobilisation to expand the conventional space was such that if Pakistan made any mistake, we were fully prepared to launch ground operations," he said.
