People of Himachal Pradesh have been alternating power between the BJP and Congress since 1985. The election, which took place on November 9, saw a record voter turnout of 74 per cent. An NDTV poll of eight exit polls had indicated that the BJP was set for a big win in the state, however, Congress had remained confident of victory. NDTV's coverage of the Gujarat Assembly election result can be seen here.
Here are the highlights of the Himachal Pradesh election result 2017:
Politics is really unpredictable. In Himachal Pradesh, both CM Veerbhadra Singh and his son have won despite party's defeat, but BJP's projected CM candidate and ex-CM Mr Prem Kumar Dhumal has lost despite party's victory.
