Headley took orders from Rana

Headley took orders from Rana
Mumbai: Evidence available with NDTV also shows that the Tawahar Rana, the Canadian-born man of Pakistani decent had a much bigger role to play than David Headley and in fact, Headley took orders from Rana.

Earlier, NDTV learnt that Rana, who along with Headley is now in the custody of the FBI in the US had left Mumbai five days before the 26/11 attacks. India will now ask for the extradition of both men who are of Pakistani origin and were allegedly planning attacks against India for the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) who are allegedly linked to the LeT and were planning major strikes on targets across the country.

Two days after Intelligence Bureau (IB) sources confirmed to NDTV that terror suspect David Headley visited Mumbai eight times before the terror attack and once after.

November 2006 to April 2008: Headley flew into Mumbai 8 times
March 2009: Headley spotted in Mumbai last

And his associate Tahawwur Rana was in Mumbai within a week of the attack, evidence that points to their possible involvement in 26/11.

November 12, 2008: Rana flew in on EK 500 (Dubai-Mumbai)
November 21, 2008: Rana flew out on EK 505 (Mumbai-Dubai)

There are more revelations. The FBI says Rana is a bigger player than Headley.

Fresh evidence available with NDTV shows that Rana was more than an accomplice. It now appears that he not only he instigated Headley but also directed his operations.

In Headley's email exchanges with unidentified Lashkar commanders about Mickey Mouse Project, Headley says: "Rana is trying to prepare me: If this happens you should act like this and if that happens you should do that and fear nothing except God."

The Mickey Mouse Project FBI says, was a terror plot aimed at multiple locations in Denmark, one of which was Denmark's Jyllands-Posten newspaper which published the Prophet Mohammad cartoons in 2005.

In other mails, they talk about another terror mission, North Investment Project in which India is a target.

In this mail Headley is told: Revisit our last location and say hi to Rahul. Matters are good enough to move forward.

The codeword Rahul FBI says, certainly pertains to India.

As the mails progress, the conversations shift focus from the Mickey Mouse Project to the Northern Investment Project.

In September 2009, in Chicago Headley and Rana take a long car ride in which they discuss ''five actions involving targets''.

FBI says Rana who ran the First World Immigration Agency in Chicago made Headley travel across the world as a representative of this agency.

Headley travelled to Copenhagen, Karachi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Mumbai as a representative of this agency.

This falls in line with the cover Headley took to visit Mumbai: He came as an immigration consultant to a visa agency: Immigrant Law Centre in Tardeo's AC Market.

He even hired a Parsi lady as his assistant who police say possibly did not know about his intentions.

FBI report says, "Rana participated in a conspiracy with David Headley to provide material support and resources and to conceal and disguise the nature, location, source and ownership of such material, support and resources, knowing and intending that they were to be used in preparation for, and in carrying out, a conspiracy to commit terrorist acts".
