Govt lying, looting the country: Mamata Banerjee on Facebook
Kolkata: As the government readies to make another reforms push this evening, Mamata Banerjee has accused it of lying and looting the country. On her Facebook page, the West Bengal Chief Minister has said, "In the name of reforms, loot chalche loot (the country is being looted). To suppress it, jhoot chalche jhoot (the government is lying to the country)."

The government announced a Rs 127 hike in the price of unsubsidised LPG cylinders yesterday and is looking at pushing through reforms in the insurance and pension sector today, which is likely to kick up another political storm.

Ms Banerjee withdrew from the government after it allowed foreign direct investment or FDI in retail, raised the price of diesel and put a cap on subsidised LPG cylinders to six a year for each family.

Attacking the government on the hike in the price of unsubsidised LPG cylinders on her Facebook post, Ms Banerjee has written, "Now the real impact of restriction of subsidized LPG cylinder is unfolding... The price is likely to go up further in the coming months... The decisions are unethical and immoral. I'm told that more such unpleasant decisions are in the offing... Let us remain together and protest."

She didn't specify though what the government was "lying" about.
