Goa: 4 days, 10 murders, 4 arrests

Panjim: Six of Goa's 10 mysterious deaths have been solved, say the police.

On Wednesday, the bodies of a woman, her companion, and her two children were fished out of a river in Panjim. Four men have been arrested for these murders.  The police says the family lived in a rundown shack surrounded by electrical scrap which the killers may have wanted to steal. The woman was sexually abused before she was murdered.

Another couple found washed up on the beach on Monday committed suicide according to the police. The post-mortem report shows the cause of death as asphyxiation caused by drowning.

There's no progress in the cases of other four women found dead in the last 10 days.  Three of these women were found burnt.  "We cannot rule in or rule out the serial killer angle. But it would premature to say that it is the work of a serial killer," says Atmaram Deshpande, SP, Crime, Goa Police

Ten women have been reported missing in Goa in the one month, but none of the  bodies found so far matches the description of any of those missing women.
