Emergency landing at Chennai airport

Chennai: There were 132 passengers on board when an Indian Airlines flight made an emergency landing at the Chennai airport on Saturday morning.

The flight, IC 556, was on its way to Chennai from Singapore.  After it took off, Singapore airport authorities saw pieces of rubber on the runway. They informed the pilot that one of the tyres may have burst during the take-off.

The pilot informed the Air Traffic Control in Chennai about this, and asked for help with an emergency landing.  When the plane touched down, it was inspected on the runway.  One of its rear tyres was deflated.  The plane was taken to a remote bay. All passengers were then asked to disembark.
