At least 40 killed in rain, landslides in Uttarakhand

Devli, Almora: Eighteen people have died in landslides in Almora's Devli village in Uttarakhand and more than 30 people have been killed due to heavy rain.

Twelve houses have been washed away after a cloud burst in Bari village as well.

Uttarakhand has recorded over 300 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Kosi began to swell after a sudden cloud burst in Almora. From one lakh 15 thousand cusecs early morning on Saturday, the water level rose to one and a half lakh cusecs by evening.

The outlying areas of Jim Corbett National park have been severely affected. About a dozen resorts in the area have incurred heavy losses.
