20 'Deep Injury' Marks On Body Of Dalit Man Killed in Punjab: Autopsy Report

Protests in Abohar after limbs of two men were cut off at a farmhouse allegedly owned by an Akali Dal leader.

Fazilka, Punjab: Twenty "deep injury" marks were found on the body of a Dalit man who died after his limbs were cut off at a farmhouse in Punjab allegedly owned by an Akali Dal leader, said a member of the doctors' team that conducted the autopsy.

"His body bore 20 injury marks," Senior Medical Officer (SMO), Abohar, Yudhishter Chaudhary said.

A team of three doctors -- Yudhishter Chaudhary, Aman Nagpal and Mahesh -- performed an autopsy on the body of 27-year-old Bhim Sain, who was allegedly murdered by liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda's men in Abohar village of Fazilka district in Punjab on Friday.

The post-mortem report said the injury marks were "deep", suggesting that sharp-edged weapons were used in the attack. There was no sign of injury on the back of the body, the doctor said.

Meanwhile, Bhim Sain's family today raised questions over the police probe, alleging that an attempt was being made to protect Shiv Lal and his nephew Amit Doda.

"Police are not conducting a fair probe in the case. They have failed to nab Shiv Lal and his nephew who were involved in his murder," Bhim's uncle Satish Kumar alleged.

The family also rejected that Bhim's murder was result of a gang-war.

"If it was a gang-war, then how can only one group suffer casualties and no one from the other group didn't even sustain an injury. It's a clear-cut murder case," Bhim's brother Gaurav said.
