New Delhi: Actress Anjali Patil's Tamil debut is extra special because of Rajinikanth. The 30-year-old actress has a substantial amount of Telugu and Malyalam films on her resume. She also won the Special Mention National Award for 2013's Telugu social drama Naa Bangaaru Talli. However, she signed Kaala Kaarikalan, her first Tamil movie, for an entirely separate reason altogether. "I signed it to feel the sheer enthusiasm of what it means to be a part of a Rajinikanth film. I wanted to experience what it's like to be around this legend," Anjali Patil told IANS in an interview. "When I signed the project, I knew this is not the film where I'd get to prove my mettle," she added. For those who have watched Newton, which is India's official entry to the Oscars, Anjali Patil plays a regional election officer in the movie.

Earlier this year, she made the big announcement on social media, writing: "Next film for this year with THE ONE AND ONLY Thalaiva." On her social media posts, she wrote that with the megastar on sets, it's not just about work but also about: "Learning lessons on how to be simple, beautiful and gracious at the same time?"

Sharing her experience of sharing screen space with the 66-year-old star, Anjali told IANS: "He's the epitome of goodness. You see such people only in a fairy tale. He's so good to everybody around him."

Working for her first Tamil project has been an "overwhelming" experience for Anjali. She explained: "The working culture is so different. I found it difficult to cope initially. But it was a great learning experience being part of this project. Each day on the set, there were over 500 people watching the shoot. It was overwhelming to shoot amidst so many people."

Anjali Patil has been parts of films like Finding Fanny, Mirzya and Kill The Rapist?, Chakravyuh and Delhi in A Day. In Kaala Karikaalan, she co-stars with Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi and Samuthirakani. Rajinikanth plays the titular slum-lord-turned-gangster in the movie, which is being produced by Dhanush, the veteran actor's son-in-law.

Kaala Karikaalan is Rajinikanth's second film with director Pa Ranjith, who says it is his fastest shot movie. Rajinikanth and Pa Ranjith previously collaborated for the blockbuster Kabali.
