The first track Chali Chali from Jayalalithaa's biopic titled Thalaivi released on Friday. The song is a tribute of sorts to the "golden days" of Jayalalithaa's life - her film career. The song has a retro vibe to it, what with sequences featuring the film's lead actress Kangana Ranaut dancing with flowers, twirling in sarees, swinging with smiles - all of which were common sights on screen in those days. The song perfectly encapsulates the essence of late leader Jayalalithaa's acting days. The track has been sung by Saindhavi Prakash. The music has been composed by G V Prakash Kumar, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

The film's lead actress Kangana Ranaut, sharing the track from the film on social media, wrote in her caption: "Embark on Jaya's superstar journey where her enchanting charm made the masses her huge fans. Chali Chali is out now."

In order to make her portrayal as Jayalalithaa authentic and to show her story from a superstar actress, to a woman in power, Kangana Ranaut underwent drastic body transformation - gaining about 20 kgs for her role in the film. See the pictures here:

Thalaivi showcases the life and times of Jayalaithaa - her journey as a stellar actress which was followed by a powerful political career. Arvind Swami stars as MG Ramachandran (MGR) in the film. Thalaivi is slated to release in cinemas on April 23 this year. Directed by Vijay and co-produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh, the film will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
