Shraddha Kapoor, the girl who said no to Akshay Kumar and Yash Raj Films

Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in Aashiqui 2

Highlights

  • Being signed up by Yash Raj Films is considered a plum deal for young actors in Bollywood. But not for this young actor. Shraddha Kapoor, who bagged a three film deal with the production house in 2011, sent ripples through filmy circles when she quit her contract after Luv Ka The End (the first of the three films) to star in Aashiqui 2 made by the Bhatts.
  • Shraddha told film critic Anupama Chopra on her show The Front Row: "It came from the bottom of my heart actually, to do Aashiqui 2. It felt so right I can't tell you."
  • While opting out of a Yash Raj contract and her choosiness in picking roles may not have made Shraddha popular, it does mean that Aashiqui 2's success won't be chalked up to mere luck.
  • Latest reports indicate that Shraddha has quit the work-in-progress Gabbar opposite Akshay Kumar in favour of Vishal Bharadwaj's Haider, a move that may again prove to be a canny one given that from what little we've seen from the sets of the film, Shraddha's fresh-faced charm is being highlighted to great effect.
