National Awards: Karan Johar On Shershaah's Special Jury Award - 'What An Absolute Honour'

Director Karan Johar is over the moon as the 2021 film Shershaah, produced under his banner, received a Special Jury award at the 69th National Film Awards, which was announced at a press conference in New Delhi today. Celebrating the big feat, Karan Johar shared a poster of the film, featuring the lead actor Sidharth Malhotra, alongside a sweet message that read, "What an absolute honour! Extending my deepest gratitude to @mib_india & to the esteemed @official.anuragthakur for recognizing our film #Shershaah worthy of the prestigious National Award."

The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director continued, "You will so rarely find all the right people at the right time - come together with their buzzing creative energies and passion to create something special…that turns into something EXTRAORDINARY! Shershaah was that for us. Thank you for giving us your unabashed love. Yeh dil maange more!"

For the unversed, besides Sidharth Malhotra, Shershaah also features Kiara Advani as the female role. Shershaah is based on the life of Kargil War hero Vikram Batra. The film features Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role opposite Kiara Advani. It has been directed by Vishnuvardhan.

Meanwhile, at the 69th edition of the National Awards,  Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the Best Actress award for their performances in Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi. Allu Arjun was named Best Actor for the blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect was awarded Best Film.

Vicky Kaushal's Sardar Udham received Best Film Hindi while RRR took home several awards including Best Popular Film.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest film honour, will be announced later.

The National Awards will be handed out by President Droupadi Murmu in a ceremony later in the year.
