Pathaan: A still of Deepika Padukone
The Internet has been stanning Deepika Padukone's look in Pathaan and she'll have you know that it was hard work – "probably the hardest" she's ever worked for a film. Pathaan stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone as agents on an anti-terror mission against John Abraham's character and as a femme fatale spy, Deepika had to look the part. In a promotional video for Pathaan released by producers Yash Raj Films, she breaks down what it took – "one of the most difficult" workout regimes and diets of the famously fit actress' life. Even harder was keeping it up for the duration of Pathaan's prep and shoots, Deepika reveals.
"It's probably the hardest I've ever worked to get in any kind of shape for a film, for a character," Deepika Padukone says in the video. However, she's not revealing details. "I don't want to get into the specifics because I know there are moments when people get carried away when actors name diets. So I'm not going to get into the specifics of what the routine was but I can tell you that it was one of the most difficult workout regimes, one of the most difficult diets that I was on," she says.
Deepika adds, "But also what I think it really took was an incredible amount of discipline. To be able to maintain that for maybe a year, year-and-a-half, two years, I can't even remember – but to be able to maintain that physicality for that long was probably the hardest part. Having said that, when you see the results on screen, when you see people reacting to it, when people recognize the hard work and the effort, it feels worthwhile."

Pathaan, directed by Siddharth Anand, releases this week on January 25. It is Shah Rukh Khan's first release in a leading role since 2018 film Zero. This will be the fourth film to co-star SRK and Deepika Padukone after Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year.
