Live : Sriperumbudur Assembly Election 2021

Sriperumbudur is one of the largest parliamentary constituencies in Tamil Nadu. It consists of Maduravoyal, Ambattur, Alandur, Sriperumbudur, Pallavaram and Tambaram assembly segments, among which Sriperumbudur is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled castes. The Sriperumbudur constituency will vote on April 18 in the second phase of general election 2019.

This time, among key contenders for the Sriperumbudur Lok Sabha seat are Antony nominated by the Bahujan Samaj Party and TR Baalu fielded by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Among 19 candidates whose nominations have been finalized for contesting the 17th Lok Sabha election from this seat, 11 are independent candidates.

Last time in 2014, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) had won the seat with 5,45,820 votes. AIADMK party had garnered, 1,79,83,168 total votes, the highest in the State in the 2014 general election. Shri Krishnan Narayanasamy Ramachandran is the incumbent MP from Sriperumbudur seat. Shri Ramachandran holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from Madras University and is an industrialist and social worker as well.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, 21 candidates had contested for the Sriperumbudur seat and 27676 votes were registered under the NOTA option.

Among the other contenders are Godwin Shadrach.SR (Tamizhaga Murpokku Makkal Katchi), Palanivel K (CPI (M)), Mahendran H (Naam Tamilar Katchi), Rajasekaran S (Anticorruption Dynamic Party), Vaithilingam A (Pattali Makkal Katchi) and Sridhar M (Makkal Needhi Maiam).

As per ECI records, a total of 2,25,3041 voters will exercise their franchise from this constituency on April 18, among which 340 are third gender candidates.
