Live : Dharmapuri Assembly Election 2021

 The Dharmapuri Lok Sabha constituency is among the 39 constituencies in Tamil Nadu to go to polls on April 18. The Dharmapuri Lok Sabha seat consists of-- Palacode, Pennagaram, Dharmapuri, Pappireddippatti, Harur, Mettur-assembly seats out of which the Harur seat is reserved for candidates belonging to scheduled caste category. A total of 1484027 voters will exercise their franchise in the second phase of the general election 2019. 130 of the total electorates registered belong to third gender category. 

Last time, 0.93% of the total votes which is 12693 votes from this constituency was registered under NOTA.

Winning party Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) is fielding the sitting MP Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss. He had won the Dharmapuri seat in 2014 general election by a margin 77146 votes defeating his nearest rival AIADMK candidate PS Mohan.

50 year old, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss holds a MBBS degree from the Madras Medical College, Tamil Nadu and is a former Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare. 

PMK party has won the Dharmapuri Lok Sabha seat for 4 terms, three of which are consecutive. Dr Ramadoss had succeeded DMK candidate R. Thamaraiselvan. AIADMK had won the seat in 1984 and 1989.

Among key contestants for the Dharmapuri Lok Sabha seat are Bahujan Samaj Party candidate C. Sivanandham and DMK candidate S. Senthil Kumar.

9 candidates have filed their nominations as independent candidates. 

Among regional parties are Ganasangam Party of India, Makkal Needhi Maiam and Naam Tamilar Katchi contesting for the Dharmapuri Lok Sabha seat.
