Narendra Modi Reveals 'Mantra of My Life' at This Meeting

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.

Gandhinagar: Amid forecasts that he is likely to get a massive promotion - from governing Gujarat to running the country -  Narendra Modi met with his state legislators and revealed what he described as "the mantra of my life."

"To play any role given by my party with commitment and I will ensure that there is no slackness in it," Mr Modi, 63, said in Gandhinagar yesterday. (India Votes 2014: Full coverage)

As exit polls predict that Mr Modi has pulled off a victory in the world's largest election, there was talk that the undeclared agenda of his meeting in Gujarat last evening was to initiate the process of finding the next chief minister of his home state. For those present, the BJP's prime ministerial nominee expounded on the details of his campaign - the number of rallies he held in different parts of the country and the large role played by technology in disseminating his message to voters. Mr Modi is scheduled to meet today with top BJP leaders including Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh to prep plans and strategy for when the results are announced.
