For the 2026 board examination, the CBSE released a tentative date sheet on September 24, 2025. It subsequently issued a revised date sheet on October 30, 2025. The board later released another revised version of the Class 10 and Class 12 date sheets on December 30, 2025, followed by a rescheduling notice on December 31.

The second board examination was introduced from the 2026 academic session in line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Under the revised system, CBSE will now conduct two board examinations for Class 10 every year, allowing eligible students an additional opportunity to improve their performance.

In a public notice, the CBSE announced that the introduction of the On Screen Marking (OSM) for Class 12 answer book evaluation has drawn positive responses from teachers across the country. 

Students and parents are advised not to rely on unverified social media posts, rumours, or unofficial sources for board-related information. All authentic updates will be issued by the CBSE through its official communication channels.

The CBSE Class 10 main board examination was held from February 17 to March 11, 2026, while the second board examination was conducted from May 15 to May 21, 2026.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education introduced the two board examination system last year, providing students a second opportunity to improve their scores.

For Class 10 students, the programme covers Mathematics and Science, while class 12 students will receive academic support in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Economics.

The sessions focus on subject-wise academic preparation, assessment strategies, examination techniques, time management and effective approaches to tackling board examinations, the officials said.

"Experienced teachers and resource persons from CBSE-affiliated schools across the country have been nominated to conduct the sessions," the board officials stated.

The initiative aims to enhance students' academic preparedness, build confidence, and equip them with effective strategies to perform better in the Board examinations, the board said.

The Central Board of Secondary Education on Monday commenced a month-long in-person support programme for classes 10 and 12 students in government schools across ten locations in the union territory of Ladakh.

The programme is being conducted at Leh, Nubra (two places), Shams, Zanskar, Kargil, Drass, Changthang, Sankoo and Chiktan, with a focus on strengthening students' subject understanding and preparing them for the board examinations.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the Primary Teachers (PRT) Tier 2 results for recruitment in Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) on September 14. Based on previous records, the CBSE is expected to release the tentative schedule by the last week of September 2026. Meanwhile, students can expect the CBSE board final date sheet in the month of October-November 2026.

Early access to the CBSE exam schedule will allow students across Science, Commerce, and Arts streams to structure their revision plans, focus on high-weightage topics, and manage stress effectively. 

For the 2026 examination cycle, the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams started on February 17.

Last year, the CBSE issued a tentative exam date sheet on September 24, 2025. 

The Central Board of Secondary Education is expected to announce the board exam schedule for the academic year 2026-27 anytime soon on its official website, cbse.gov.in.
