Thane: Man arrested for allegedly raping his teenage daughter

Thane: A 32-year-old painter from Manorama Nagar of Kapurbawdi locality was arrested for allegedly raping his teenage daughter regularly, police said in Thane today.

Jai Balkila Singh, who was arrested last night, lived with his wife and daughter, senior police inspector B R Chowdhari of the Kapurbawdi police station said.

For the last eight months, Singh allegedly sexually assaulted his daughter studying in the Class 8. He also allegedly showed her obscene pictures on his mobile phone and raped her in his house, he said.

The accused allegedly used to sexually assault his daughter when his wife was asleep.

His daughter told her mother about it. However, her mother totally ignored her and refused to do anything.

Hence, the girl finally told it to her school friend, who promised to help her.

Both the girls narrated the entire incident at the Kapurbawdi police station, which registered an offence against her father and arrested him.

He was produced before a local magistrate today who remanded him to police custody for a period of ten days.

Offences have been registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, besides Sections 5 and 6 of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment to Children Act of 2012, against the accused, the police said.
