Chennai teen killing: Breakthrough in sight?
Chennai: The CB-CID, which is investigating the death of a teen who was killed when he trespassed into the cantonment area in the city on Sunday, confirmed the use of a rifle in the murder, said sources.

The post-mortem report says a rifle was used. The hunt for the weapon is till on, said CB-CID sources. The culprit could have used an illegal weapon, said sources.

According to sources, the agency is closing on the culprit but wants to collect strong evidence before the arrest.

The CB-CID has interrogated a few Army officers including a Lt Colonel.

Earlier, Jayalalithaa blamed the Army for the death of the teen.

"It is quite clear that someone from within the army enclave shot at the boy and killed him," the Chief Minister said.

Army Chief General V K Singh promised strong action against anybody found guilty but said the entire force should not be defamed if any individual is suspected.

"Whoever has committed any mistake in the incident - be it an officer or a jawan - strong action will be taken against him," said Singh.
