Tesla has launched the Model Y L in the Indian market, a stretched version of its popular Model Y SUV aimed at families needing extra seating. This six-seater variant introduces several practical upgrades while keeping core performance close to the standard five-seater model. Here are the differences between the longer model and the standard version.
Size and Dimensions
The Model Y L measures 4,976 mm in length with a 3,040 mm wheelbase, making it longer and wider between axles than the standard Model Y's 4,790 mm length and 2,890 mm wheelbase. This extension primarily adds space for a third row, boosting overall height to 1,668 mm from 1,624 mm. Width stays identical at 2,129 mm across both.
Seating Layout
Standard Model Y offers five seats. Meanwhile, the Model Y L comes standard as a 2+2+2 six-seater featuring captain's chairs in the second row. The third-row seats are ventilated, heated, power-folding, and include side airbags and USB-C ports. The seats in the last row also get powered recline and dedicated AC vents.

Interior Upgrades
The Model Y L includes additional comfort features beyond those found in the standard wheelbase variants. It boasts an enhanced audio system consisting of 18 speakers and a subwoofer, in contrast to the 9-speaker configuration in the standard and Long Range models. Additionally, the front seats are equipped with extensions for thigh support.

Performance and Range
Both the Model Y Long Range and the Model Y L use an 83 kWh battery pack and have a peak charging speed of 250 kW. Despite this, the Model Y L can achieve an additional 20 km of driving distance on a full charge. This is impressive, considering it is the larger vehicle and is equipped with an all-wheel-drive system, which typically adds more weight. Additionally, it provides 21 km more range during a 15-minute Supercharger charge, offering 288 km compared to the Model Y Long Range's 267 km.
Pricing
The standard Tesla Model Y comes at Rs 59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), whereas the long-range variant gets Rs 67.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Compared to the standard version, the Model Y L is expensive by Rs 2.1 lakh at Rs 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
