2027 Honda City Facelift Spied Testing - Hyundai Verna Rival To Launch Soon?

The 2027 Honda City facelift has been spied undergoing tests fully covered in camouflage in Brazil, hinting at updates for multiple markets, including India. This comes as the sedan segment heats up in the country with the refreshed Hyundai Verna already on sale, positioning the City to counter with timely revisions ahead of the next-generation model in 2028.

The test mule reveals a redesigned front grille and bolder bumper, drawing cues from the Honda Civic for a sharper look. Headlights appear revised, while the side profile may feature new alloy wheels. Rear changes seem limited to bumper tweaks, with overall dimensions staying close to the current version, possibly with minor length adjustments.

Inside, expect refreshed seat upholstery alongside carried-over elements like the 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. India-bound units could add a 360-degree camera and ventilated seats to match rivals. The equipment list is expected to retain ambient lighting, PM 2.5 filter, automatic climate control, and an 8-speaker system.

The sedan is expected to come without any major mechanical changes. The Indian version of the car is expected to carry forward the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine, which delivers 121 hp and 145 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual or CVT, with E20 fuel compliance.

When compared, the Brazilian Honda City produces 126 hp. The torque delivery is 155 Nm when using ethanol and 152 Nm with gasoline. This engine is matched with a 7-speed CVT automatic transmission. Although both engines share a similar design and displacement, they cannot be considered the same because of variations in power outputs, fuel calibration, redline limits, and transmission choices.

The launch timeline of the Honda City Facelift has not been revealed for the Indian market. However, customers can look forward to cosmetic and feature tweaks to improve its position against rivals like Verna, Slavia, and Virtus.
