Kia Syros Feb'26 Dispatch Stands At 662 Units: Diminishing Consumer Interest?

While the Kia Syros in our opinion offers one of the best rear-seat experiences for its price, it is finding it tough to find buyers in the Indian market.

Kia Syros Feb'26 Dispatch Stands At 662 Units: Diminishing Consumer Interest?

Back when Kia introduced the Syros in the Indian market, a slew of automotive influencers called it the 'Mini-Defender', which did help the initial traction around the product. With time, the influence seems to have faded away, as the Kia Syros wholesale stood at a mere 662 units. For reference, this is lower than Renault Kiger and Citroen C3, which recorded sales of 701 and 753 units, respectively.

Kia Syros: Really A Dull-Seller?

Another aspect to take into account is that the Syros has been a dull seller consistently. In January 2026, this figure was even lower, as Kia could only wholesale a total of 465 units. In the last 6 months, the Syros humped past the three-digit barrier only once, as in Dec'25, Kia dispatched 1,116 units.

Kia Syros: What Went Wrong?

Needless to say, the Kia Syros is a car that's really practical and comfortable on the inside. However, its design invites polarising opinions. In my understanding, this isn't a design for the masses. This isn't conventional in any way.

What sets the Syros apart from its rivals is the space it offers - thanks to its upright design. The cabin feels airy. Moreover, the rear bench is one of the best in the segment. It can recline, slide, and accommodate large-frame adults in utmost comfort. In fact, the seat base is ventilated.

Kia has ensured that the Syros isn't devoid of any features. It gets a large single-pane housing for the instrument cluster, infotainment units, ambient lighting, electronic parking brake, and climate control. The Syros also comes equipped with ADAS, supporting emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and more.

As regards powertrain and gearbox combinations, there are a slew of options too. It can be had with either a 1.0L turbo-petrol or a 1.5L turbo-diesel. The gearbox options include a 6-speed MT, 6-speed AT, and a 7-speed DCT.

The pricing for the Syros is a little sour, if anything. It starts from Rs 8.67 lakh and tops out at Rs 15.93 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, considering that it is a sub-4m car. The slightly aspirational take on pricing from Kia's end, coupled with extremely unorthodox styling, has affected the sales of the Kia Syros in the Indian market.
