Allahabad:

Five members of a family, including three children, were found dead in a locked house in Allahabad on Monday. A man was found hanging from a ceiling fan, his wife's body was in the fridge. The bodies of two young girls, believed to be the couple's daughters, were found in a suitcase and in an almirah. The body of a third daughter was in another room.

Police say the house was bolted from inside and they had to break through the door. "It seems that the man, Manoj Kushwaha, killed his wife and three daughters, and later committed suicide," said police officer Nitin Tiwari.

Police say the killings could be because of a family dispute or the man's suspicion that his wife was having an affair.

Last month, a Madurai woman killed her two children by suffocating them in a plastic bag before hanging herself. The woman left a note accusing her husband of humiliating and abusing her in front of their children over false allegations.

Earlier in July, six members of a family were found dead at Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. While two bodies were found hanging, the other two were found with their throats slit. A third person was pushed from the roof of the apartment and a baby was allegedly poisoned. One of the suicide notes found said the family had a debt of Rs 50 lakh and there was no way they could repay.
