The main accused in the Ghaziabad Provident Fund scam has committed suicide in jail.

Interestingly, Ashutosh Asthana was the one to blow the whistle on the scam. He had given a detailed account naming 36 judges, including one SC judge and 10 HC judges, as recepients of the money. A number of attempts were made to get him to change his stand, but he did not retract his statement.

Attempts will now be made to close the case, which had shown deep-rooted corruption in the entire judicial system.
