Narendra Modi gets swine flu
NDTV Correspondent, Friday October 30, 2009, Ahmedabad

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been diagnosed with swine flu.

A spokesperson for the Gujarat government says Modi will be kept in isolation for seven days. For any emergency, he will be available over the phone for consultation.

A special team of doctors has been formed to attend to him.  His supporters have chipped in with a special puja. "We will play Ram Dhun till 6 pm, and after that perform a havan. This will reverse the effects of the virus,'' says  Neelam Patel, BJP Yuva Morcha member.

Medicines and science are, however, endorsed by some others in Modi's camp. "I will send him medicines and also speak him. He is strong person. He will come to no harm. The nation needs him, " says spiritual leader Asaram Bapu.

Modi's spokesperson has also clarified that there's no need for a caretaker chief minister while he's recovering.
