The countdown to the IPL 2026 final is almost over, and cricket fever is at its peak across the country. With Royal Challengers Bengaluru set to take on Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31, thousands of fans are expected to travel to the city for the season's biggest clash. To make the journey easier, Western Railway has introduced a set of special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, giving cricket lovers additional travel options for the final weekend.

Match-Day Train For Fans

One of the key services announced is a special AC Superfast train that will run from Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad on the day of the final, as reported by The Free Press Journal.

Train No. 09021 will leave Mumbai Central at 6:20 am on May 31 and reach Ahmedabad at 12:40 pm, making it a convenient option for fans travelling on the same day as the match.

The train will feature a premium Shatabdi-style rake with an Executive Chair Car, an AC Chair Car, an Anubhuti Class, and even a Vistadome coach, offering a comfortable journey to Ahmedabad.

The return service, Train No. 09022, will depart Ahmedabad at 3:10 pm and arrive at Mumbai Central at 9:45 pm on the same day.

Extra Services After The Final

To manage the expected rush after the match, Western Railway has also planned two additional special trains for June 1.
Train No. 09044 will run from Ahmedabad to Bandra Terminus, while Train No. 09043 will operate from Bandra Terminus to Vatva later that night.

Unlike the premium AC special, these trains will include AC three-tier and Sleeper Class coaches, offering more budget-friendly travel options for passengers.

Stops Along The Route

The special trains will halt at several important stations along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor, including Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, and Vadodara, making them accessible for travellers from multiple cities.

Booking Details

Reservations for all four special services will open on May 30. Tickets can be booked through PRS reservation counters as well as on the IRCTC platform.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to check the complete timetable and coach details before finalising their travel plans, especially with a large number of cricket fans expected to travel to Ahmedabad for the IPL final weekend.
