Watch: Foreign Tourist Left Fascinated By Iconic "Palat Palat" DDLJ Bridge In Switzerland

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has maintained its significance even after three decades of its release. The movie, filmed in various amazing locations across Switzerland, has often inspired travellers to recreate the iconic scenes from the movie with their loved ones at those same places. So much so that the "Palat Palat" bridge has even attracted the interest of visitors who are not from India. In a reel making the rounds on Instagram, a foreign tourist passionately calls it "one of the most famous bridges" in the world. As he pans his camera, we can spot the movie's poster hanging alongside the bridge's fencing, where one of the iconic scenes was shot.

Located in Saanen, a small postcard-perfect village near Gstaad, Switzerland, the bridge is where Shah Rukh's on-screen character has realised the first hint from his beloved. Taking the viewers back to Raj and Simran's era, the traveller says, "This is one of the most famous bridges in the world. Why? Because this movie, DDLJ, one of the most famous movies ever created, has never stopped playing in theatres since it was released back in the day in India, starring Shah Rukh Khan. In the scene on this bridge where he says, 'If she looks back, she loves me,' and she looks back... incredible movie!"

Everything You Need To Know About The DDLJ "Palat Palat" Bridge

The famous bridge in Saanen looks straight out of a painting. The area is filled with lush green meadows, snow-capped peaks in the background, and many more. To reach the Saanen bridge, you need to go to the nearest popular town, Gstaad, which is well connected by train from major Swiss cities like Zurich, Bern, and Montreux. From the Gstaad railway station, just a short 5-minute train ride or a 30-minute walk will take you to the Saanen railway station. From there, the wooden bridge is a few minutes' walk away.

This European country, also known as Heaven on Earth, features many other filming locations for the movie.

1. Saanen railway station: Besides the wooden bridge, you can also visit the Saanen railway station and a nearby St Mauritius church, both of which were featured in the movie.
2. St. Mauritius Church: Only the exterior shots of the church were taken for the scene where Raj and Simran were seen praying. But don't start looking for differences in the interiors, as those shots were captured at St. Grant Church in Montbovon.
3. Street shops of Gstaad: Additionally, the Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main song was shot at various locations along the Gstaad promenade, including the Early Beck chocolate shop, where Simran enters in one of the scenes of the movie.
4. Zweisimmen: This is where Raj and Simran missed their train to Zurich in the film.
5. Interlaken: Various shots, like the famous promenade, a fountain in the city, and more, are featured in the movie.
6. Jungfraujoch: Some parts of the 'Zara Sa Jhoom Loon Main' song were recorded at the snow-covered mountain peaks.
